Hello,

I tried downloading some of the fonts mentioned on this page. However, when my browser is set to "Unicode [UTF-8] the test-sentence shows up thus:

Ἐν ἀρχῇ ἦν ὁ Λόγος

When I click "encoding" in my browser to "Greek [Windows]" it shows up thus:

Ἐν ἀρχῇ ἦν ὁ Λόγος

I have Windows 98. Does anyone know how this may be fixed?

Hi Kevin,

There isn't anything to fix; it is normal to use unicode utf-8 to read polytonic Greek.

George,

I'm sorry. It must not be able to show up in your browser.
All I am getting are a few Greek letters, but they are interrupted by squares, even when I set it to Unicode utf-8", and numbers and subscripts and such, when I set it to Greek [Windows].

You see squares when you don't have the proper font, and you see garbage when you don't read the page in unicode encoding.

Have you installed at least one of these fonts : Palatino Linotype, GentiumAlt, Georgia Greek, Asteria, Athena?

Thanks George. I have it working now.

I downloaded at least two or three other fonts earlier. But it looks like Athena was the key. Right after downloading Athena, it worked perfectly.
