Roboam was forty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in the city Jerusalem, which the Lord chose to put his name there out of all the tribes of Israel: and his mother’s name [was] Naama the Ammonitess. 22 And Roboam did evil in the sight of the Lord; and he provoked him in all the things which their fathers did in their sins which they sinned. 23 And they built for themselves high places, and pillars, and [planted] groves on every high hill, and under every shady tree. 24 And there was a conspiracy in the land, and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the Lord removed from before the children of Israel. 25 And it came to pass in the fifth year of the reign of Roboam, Susakim king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem; 26 and took all the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king’s house, and the golden spears which David took out of the hand of the sons of Adrazaar king of Suba, and brought them into Jerusalem, even all that he took, [and] the golden shields which Solomon had made, [[and carried them away into Egypt.]] 27 And king Roboam made brazen shields instead of them; and the chiefs of the body guard, who kept the gate of the house of the king, were placed in charge over them. 28 And it came to pass when the king went into the house of the Lord, that the body guard took them up, and fixed them in the chamber of the body guard. 29 And the rest of the history of Roboam, and all that he did, behold, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Juda? 30 And there was war between Roboam and Jeroboam continually. 31 And Roboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Abiu his son reigned in his stead.

1 At that time Abia son of Jeroboam was ill. 2 And Jeroboam said to his wife, Rise up And disguise [yourself] that they shall not know that you are the wife of Jeroboam, and go unto Selo! Behold, Achia the prophet is there, he spoke unto me to reign over this people. 3 And take in your hand to the man of God bread loaves and small cakes to his children, and dried grapes, and a jar of honey, and you shall go to him; he will announce to you what will be to the child. 4 And thus did the wife of Jeroboam. And she rose up and went to Selo, and entered into the house of Achia. And the man was too old to see, and his eyes were dim from his old age. 5 And the Lord said to Achia, Behold the wife of Jeroboam enters to seek an utterance from you concerning his son, for he is ill. According to this and according to that you shall say to her. And it came to pass in her entering that she was as a stranger. 6 And it came to pass as Achia heard the sound of her feet in her entering in the passage, that he said, Enter, O wife of Jeroboam, why is this you are [disguised] as a stranger and I am to you a harsh envoy. 7 In going, say to Jeroboam, Thus says the Lord God of Israel, Because as much as I exalted you from the midst of the people and appointed you leading over the people of Israel, 8 and tore the crown of state from the house of David and gave it to you; and you have not become as my servant David who kept my commandments, and who went after me with all his heart, to do right in my eyes. 9 But you did wickedly doing more than all as many as were in front of you, and you have gone and made yourself other gods and molten images to provoke me to anger, and have tossed me behind you. 10 On account of this, behold, I bring evil to the house of Jeroboam, and I will utterly destroy of Jeroboam the one urinating against the wall; the one coming and the one being left behind in Israel; and I shall choose over the house of Jeroboam as one chooses the dung unto finishing it. 11 The one having died of Jeroboam in the city the dogs shall devour, and the one having died in the field the birds of heaven shall devour; for the Lord has spoken it. 12 And you rise up, go unto your house! In the entering of your feet in the city the child shall die. 13 And all Israel shall lament him, and entomb him, for this one only of Jeroboam shall enter the tomb; for there shall be found in him a good word concerning the Lord God of Israel among the house of Jeroboam. 14 And the Lord will raise up for himself a king over Israel who shall strike the house of Jeroboam this day, and yet also indeed now. 15 And the Lord shall strike Israel as a shaken reed in the water. And he shall pluck Israel upward out of this good soil which he gave their fathers. And he shall winnow them on the other side of the river, because of the many sacred groves that they made, provoking the Lord to anger. 16 And the Lord gave Israel favor from the sins of Jeroboam who sinned and who led Israel into sin. 17 And the wife of Jeroboam rose up and went into Sarira. And it came to pass as she entered in the threshold of the house that the child died. 18 And they entombed him, and all Israel lamented him according to the word of the Lord that he spoke by the hand of his servant Achia the prophet. 19 And the extra things of Jeroboam, as much as he waged war, and as much as he reigned, behold, they have been written in the scroll of the words of the days of the kings of Israel. 20 And the days which Jeroboam reigned were twenty and two years. And he slept with his fathers, and Nabat his son reigned instead of him.

* 21 ΚΑΙ Ῥοβοὰμ υἱὸς Σαλωμὼν ἐβασίλευσεν ἐπὶ ᾿Ιούδαν· υἱὸς τεσσαράκοντα καὶ ἑνὸς ἐνιαυτῶν Ῥοβοὰμ ἐν τῷ βασιλεύειν αὐτὸν καὶ ἑπτακαίδεκα ἔτη ἐβασίλευσεν ἐν ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ τῇ πόλει, ἣν ἐξελέξατο Κύριος θέσθαι τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ ἐκεῖ ἐκ πασῶν φυλῶν τοῦ ᾿Ισραήλ· καὶ τὸ ὄνομα τῆς μητρὸς αὐτοῦ Νααμὰ ἡ ᾿Αμμωνῖτις. 22 καὶ ἐποίησε Ῥοβοὰμ τὸ πονηρὸν ἐνώπιον Κυρίου καὶ παρεζήλωσεν αὐτὸν ἐν πᾶσιν, οἷς ἐποίησαν οἱ πατέρες αὐτῶν ἐν ταῖς ἁμαρτίαις αὐτῶν, αἷς ἥμαρτον, 23 καὶ ᾠκοδόμησαν ἑαυτοῖς ὑψηλὰ καὶ στήλας καὶ ἄλση ἐπὶ πάντα βουνὸν ὑψηλὸν καὶ ὑποκάτω παντὸς ξύλου συσκίου. 24 καὶ σύνδεσμος ἐγενήθη ἐν τῇ γῇ, καὶ ἐποίησαν ἀπὸ πάντων τῶν βδελυγμάτων τῶν ἐθνῶν, ὧν ἐξῇρε Κύριος ἀπὸ προσώπου υἱῶν ᾿Ισραήλ. 25 καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ἐνιαυτῷ τῷ πέμπτῳ βασιλεύοντος Ῥοβοάμ, ἀνέβη Σουσακὶμ βασιλεὺς Αἰγύπτου ἐπὶ ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ 26 καὶ ἔλαβε πάντας τοὺς θησαυροὺς οἴκου τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ τὰ δόρατα τὰ χρυσᾶ, ἃ ἔλαβε Δαυὶδ ἐκ χειρὸς τῶν παίδων ᾿Αδραζὰρ βασιλέως Σουβά, καὶ εἰσήνεγκεν αὐτὰ εἰς ῾Ιερουσαλὴμ τὰ πάντα, ἃ ἔλαβεν, ὅπλα τὰ χρυσᾶ, ὅσα ἐποίησε Σαλωμών, καὶ ἐπήνεγκεν αὐτὰ εἰς Αἴγυπτον. 27 καὶ ἐποίησε Ῥοβοὰμ ὁ βασιλεὺς ὅπλα χαλκᾶ ἀντ᾿ αὐτῶν. καὶ ἐπέθεντο ἐπ᾿ αὐτὸν οἱ ἡγούμενοι τῶν παρατρεχόντων οἱ φυλάσσοντες τὸν πυλῶνα οἴκου βασιλέως. 28 καὶ ἐγένετο ὅτε εἰσεπορεύετο ὁ βασιλεὺς εἰς οἶκον Κυρίου, καὶ ᾖρον αὐτὰ οἱ παρατρέχοντες καὶ ἀπηρείδοντο αὐτὰ εἰς τὸ θεὲ τῶν παρατρεχόντων. 29 καὶ τὰ λοιπὰ τῶν λόγων Ῥοβοὰμ καὶ πάντα, ἃ ἐποίησεν, οὐκ ἰδοὺ ταῦτα γεγραμμένα ἐν βιβλίῳ λόγων τῶν ἡμερῶν τοῖς βασιλεῦσιν ᾿Ιούδα; 30 καὶ πόλεμος ἦν ἀνὰ μέσον Ῥοβοὰμ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον ῾Ιεροβοὰμ πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας. 31 καὶ ἐκοιμήθη Ῥοβοὰμ μετὰ τῶν πατέρων αὐτοῦ καὶ θάπτεται μετὰ τῶν πατέρων αὐτοῦ ἐν πόλει Δαυίδ, καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν ᾿Αβιοὺ ὁ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ ἀντ᾿ αὐτοῦ.

1 ᾿Εν τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ ἠρρώστησεν ᾿Αβιὰ υἱὸς ῾Ιεροβοὰμ 2 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ ῾Ιεροβοὰμ πρὸς τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ· ἀνάστηθι καὶ ἀλλοιωθήσῃ, καὶ οὐ γνώσονται ὅτι σὺ γυνὴ ῾Ιεροβοάμ, καὶ πορευθήσῃ εἰς Σηλώ· καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐκεῖ ᾿Αχιὰ ὁ προφήτης, αὐτὸς ἐλάλησεν ἐμὲ τοῦ βασιλεῦσαι ἐπὶ τὸν λαὸν τοῦτον. 3 καὶ λαβὲ εἰς τὴν χεῖρά σου τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ τοῦ Θεοῦ ἄρτους καὶ κολλυρίδα τοῖς τέκνοις αὐτοῦ καὶ σταφίδας καὶ στάμνον μέλιτος, καὶ ἐλεύσῃ πρὸς αὐτόν. αὐτὸς ἀναγγείλῃ σοι τί ἔσται τῷ παιδί. 4 καὶ ἐποίησεν οὕτως γυνὴ ῾Ιεροβοάμ· καὶ ἀνέστη καὶ ἐπορεύθη εἰς Σηλώ, καὶ εἰσῆλθεν ἐν οἴκῳ ᾿Αχιά· καὶ ὁ ἄνθρωπος πρεσβύτερος τοῦ ἰδεῖν, καὶ ἠμβλυώπουν οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ γήρους αὐτοῦ. 5 καὶ Κύριος εἶπε πρὸς ᾿Αχιά· ἰδοὺ γυνὴ τοῦ ῾Ιεροβοὰμ εἰσέρχεται τοῦ ἐκζητῆσαι ῥῆμα παρὰ σοῦ περὶ υἱοῦ αὐτῆς, ὅτι ἄρρωστός ἐστι· κατὰ τοῦτο καὶ κατὰ τοῦτο λαλήσεις πρὸς αὐτήν. καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ εἰσέρχεσθαι αὐτὴν καὶ αὐτὴ ἀπεξενοῦτο. 6 καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἤκουσεν ᾿Αχιὰ τὴν φωνὴν ποδῶν αὐτῆς, εἰσερχομένης αὐτῆς ἐν τῷ ἀνοίγματι, καὶ εἶπεν· εἴσελθε, γυνὴ ῾Ιεροβοάμ· ἱνατί σὺ τοῦτο ἀποξενοῦσαι; καὶ ἐγώ εἰμι ἀπόστολος πρός σε σκληρός. 7 πορευθεῖσα εἰπὸν τῷ ῾Ιεροβοάμ· τάδε λέγει Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς ᾿Ισραήλ· ἀνθ᾿ οὗ ὅσον ὕψωσά σε ἀπὸ μέσου λαοῦ καὶ ἔδωκά σε ἡγούμενον ἐπὶ τὸν λαόν μου ᾿Ισραήλ, 8 καὶ ἔρρηξα σὺν τὸ βασίλειον ἀπὸ τοῦ οἶκου Δαυὶδ καὶ ἔδωκα αὐτό σοι καὶ οὐκ ἐγένου ὡς ὁ δοῦλός μου Δαυίδ, ὃς ἐφύλαξε τὰς ἐντολάς μου καὶ ὃς ἐπορεύθη ὀπίσω μου ἐν πάσῃ καρδίᾳ αὐτοῦ ποιῆσαι ἕκαστος τὸ εὐθὲς ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς μου 9 καὶ ἐπονηρεύσω τοῦ ποιῆσαι παρὰ παντός, ὅσοι ἐγένοντο εἰς πρόσωπόν σου καὶ ἐπορεύθης καὶ ἐποίησας σεαυτῷ θεοὺς ἑτέρους χωνευτὰ τοῦ παροργίσαι με καὶ ἐμὲ ἔρριψας ὀπίσω σώματός σου· 10 διὰ τοῦτο ἐγὼ ἄγω κακίαν πρός σε εἰς οἶκον ῾Ιεροβοάμ· ἐξολοθρεύσω τοῦ ῾Ιεροβοὰμ οὐροῦντα πρὸς τοῖχον ἐχόμενον καὶ ἐγκαταλελειμμένον ἐν ᾿Ισραὴλ καὶ ἐπιλέξω οἴκου ῾Ιεροβοάμ, καθὼς ἐπιλέγεται ἡ κόπρος, ὡς τελειωθῆναι αὐτόν· 11 οἱ τεθνηκότες τοῦ ῾Ιεροβοὰμ ἐν τῇ πόλει, καταφάγονται οἱ κύνες, καὶ τὸν τεθνηκότα ἐν τῷ ἀγρῷ καταφάγονται τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, ὅτι Κύριος ἐλάλησε. 12 καὶ σὺ ἀναστᾶσα πορεύθητι εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου· ἐν τῷ εἰσέρχεσθαι πόδα σου τὴν πόλιν, ἀποθανεῖται τὸ παιδάριον· 13 καὶ κόψονται αὐτὸν πᾶς ᾿Ισραὴλ καὶ θάψουσιν αὐτόν, ὅτι οὗτος μόνος εἰσελεύσεται τῷ ῾Ιεροβοὰμ πρὸς τάφον, ὅτι εὑρέθη ἐν αὐτῷ ρῆμα καλὸν περὶ τοῦ Κυρίου Θεοῦ ᾿Ισραὴλ ἐν οἴκῳ ῾Ιεροβοάμ· 14 καὶ ἀναστήσει Κύριος ἑαυτῷ βασιλέα ἐπὶ ᾿Ισραήλ, ὃς πλήξει τὸν οἶκον ῾Ιεροβοάμ ταύτῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ· καὶ τί καὶ νῦν; 15 Κύριος πλήξει τὸν ᾿Ισραήλ, καθὰ κινεῖται ὁ ἄνεμος ἐν τῷ ὕδατι, καὶ ἐκτελεῖ τὸν ᾿Ισραὴλ ἀπὸ ἄνω τῆς χθονὸς τῆς ἀγαθῆς ταύτης, ἧς ἔδωκε τοῖς πατράσιν αὐτῶν, καὶ λικμήσει αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ πέραν τοῦ ποταμοῦ· ἀνθ᾿ οὗ ὅσον ἐποίησαν τὰ ἄλση αὐτῶν παροργίζοντες τὸν Κύριον· 16 καὶ παραδώσει Κύριος τὸν ᾿Ισραὴλ χάριν ἁμαρτιῶν ῾Ιεροβοάμ, ὃς ἥμαρτε καὶ ὃς ἐξήμαρτε τὸν ᾿Ισραήλ. 17 καὶ ἀνέστη ἡ γυνὴ ῾Ιεροβοὰμ καὶ ἐπορεύθη εἰς γῆν Σαριρά· καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς εἰσῆλθεν ἐν τῷ προθύρῳ τοῦ οἴκου καὶ τὸ παιδάριον ἀπέθανε. 18 καὶ ἔθαψαν αὐτὸν καὶ ἐκόψαντο αὐτὸν πᾶς ᾿Ισραήλ, κατὰ τὸ ρῆμα Κυρίου, ὃ ἐλάλησεν ἐν χειρὶ δούλου αὐτοῦ ᾿Αχιὰ τοῦ προφήτου. 19 καὶ περισσὸν ρημάτων ῾Ιεροβοάμ, ὅσα ἐπολέμησε καὶ ὅσα ἐβασίλευσεν, ἰδοὺ αὐτὰ γεγραμμένα ἐπὶ βιβλίου ρημάτων τῶν ἡμερῶν τῶν βασιλέων ᾿Ισραὴλ. 20 καὶ αἱ ἡμέραι, ἃς ἐβασίλευσεν ῾Ιεροβοὰμ εἴκοσι δύο ἔτη· καὶ ἐκοιμήθη μετὰ τῶν πατέρων αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐβασίλευσε Ναβὰτ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ ἀντ᾿ αὐτοῦ.
