In His former presence the glory of the deity was hidden by the body He took from us in order to help us. Now He is hidden with the Father in heavens with His equally-divine body, but then (in the second coming) He will reveal the whole of His glory. He will appear shining from the East to the West, illumining the ends with the rays of the deity, while in the whole world there will be sounding a life-giving trumpet, calling everything at once to gather near Him... To this was intending the primary generation of the world, to this end there was the heavenly and oldest wish of the Father, according to which the angel of the great wish of the Father, not only in His image but also to His likeness He created man, to be able some time to contain the greatness of the divine kingdom, the bliss of the divine inheritance, the perfection of the blessing of the Father in heavens, for which all have been created, visible and invisible.

Speeceh 4, On the Gospel of the Second Presence of the Christ, Patrologia Graeca 151.53-56
