He raised fathers, He revealed prophets, He fulfilled signs, He gave law, He appointed angels, yet, because even these were not enough to the endless urge of our evil, the great therapy itself, terminating the great sins, the Word of God himself, bent the heavens and came down to earth. In everything He became as we are, except for sin, He destroyed sin in His self and while He strengthened us, He weakened the center of sin and to leaders and workers of sin gave the exemplar on the Cross, with death defeating the master of death... And when He was risen and taken up in heavens, He gave Apostles to all the world, He sent a numberless army of martyrs, He appointed a wealth of teachers, He revealed Churches of saints.

Ἤγειρε Πατέρας, ἔδειξε προφήτας, ἐτέλεσε σημεῖα, νόμον ἔδωκεν, ἀγγέλους ἐπέστησεν. Ἐπεὶ δὲ καὶ ταῦτα ἠσθένει πρὸς τὴν ἄσχετον τῆς ἡμετέρας κακίας φοράν, αὐτὸ τὸ μέγα ἴαμα τὸ καταπαῦον ἁμαρτίας μεγάλας, αὐτὸς ὁ τοῦ Θεοῦ Λόγος κλίνας οὐρανοὺς ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν κατῆλθε, καὶ τὰ πάντα καθ' ἡμᾶς γεγονώς, χωρὶς ἁμαρτίας, κατήργησε τὴν ἁμαρτίαν ἐν ἑαυτῷ, καὶ ἡμᾶς ἐνισχύσας τὸ κέντρον ἐκείνης ἤμβλυνε, καὶ τοὺς ἀρχηγοὺς καὶ συνεργοὺς αὐτῆς παρεδειγμάτισεν ἐν τῷ σταυρῷ, διὰ τοῦ θανάτου καταργήσας τὸν τὸ κράτος ἔχοντα τοῦ θανάτου… Ἀναστὰς δὲ καὶ εἰς οὐρανοὺς ἀναληφθείς, ἀποστόλους εἰς πᾶσαν ἐξαπέστειλε τὴν οἰκουμένην, μαρτύρων στῖφος οὐκ εὐαρίθμητον προεβάλετο, διδασκάλων προεστήσατο πληθύν, ἐκκλησίας ὁσίων ἔδειξεν.
