CHAPTER 63 – A VISITOR

Ten years and three children later, Mr Peggotty comes to see Copperfield. He tells of the happy times he is having in Australia and how well they are. He also says how Martha got married in two years of arriving.

Mrs Gummidge was proposed to, but declined.

Mr Peggotty reads a newspaper article of how Micawber (now a magistrate) gave a speech.

Mr Peggotty stays with Copperfield and Agnes for less than a month. Before he leaves, however, he returns to Yarmouth to visit Ham’s grave.

 

CHAPTER 64 – A LAST RETROSPECT

Betsey Trotwood is made Godmother to a baby Betsey Trotwood.

Mrs Steerforth and Dartle are still upset.

Julia Mills returns from India with a husband.

Traddles is a lawyer, and happily married.
