I am interested in any help anyone can give me in the notion of the hero in David Copperfield. There is the obvious hero of the novel the character himself. But should he end up the hero? Are there any other characters that could actually be the hero of the novel, for instance Mr Mircawber. If you have ant ideas they would be greatly recieved. I believe that Agnes is David's hero. Not only because he bestows this title on her himself in the closing paragraph of the novel, but because she consistently and nobly stood for everything that David always wanted to be. How difficult it must have been to love David from afar for nearly her entire life! To listen to him talk about courting Dora and still have an honest and pure enough heart to give him sound advice. She is the one who brought them together, really, after advising David to write to her aunts. She is his moral compass throughout the novel, and because of this, is the one true hero.
