To be what we were before we were

To be that nothingness

Nothing less and nothing more than this can be imagined

And the wisdom of the soul in its poverty

This nothingness an everything

This negation an affirmation

(I can foresee that it will come to this

That no evasion will be permitted

That this is an appointment that cannot be postponed)

And in this the soul will find its true redemption

And only in this emptiness (as the saints have proclaimed)

Can it know what its destiny is meant to be

And surely this above all things is that poverty of the spirit

Which opens its to its inheritance
