But I believe that you keep for me goods, since you are good, even if it isn't useful for me to know them. But neither worthy am I to know, nor do I ask to know in order to gain comfort. Maybe it won't do me good. Nor comfort from any war dare I to ask, though I am feeble and everything brings me pain, because I don't know whom is beneficial for. It is you who knows everything, do accordingly as you know. Just don't let me fail, whatever might happen. But whether I will it or not, save me. And this, if you like. Therefore, I don't want anything at all. I stay before you like something soulless. I put my soul into your inoccent hands, in this age and in the age to come.

Πιστεύω δέ, ὅτι ἀγαθὸς ὤν, ἀγαθά μοι οἰκονομῆσαι ἔχεις, κἂν πρὸς τὸ συμφέρον οὐ γινώσκω ταῦτα· ἀλλ' οὔτε ἄξιός εἰμι τοῦ γνῶναι, οὐδὲ αἰτοῦμαι τοῦ μαθεῖν, ἵνα ἄνεσιν ἔχω· ἴσως οὐ συμφέρει μοι. Οὐδὲ κουφισμὸν πολέμου τινὸς παρακαλέσαι τολμῶ, εἰ καὶ ἀσθενῶ καὶ ἐν πᾶσι καταπονοῦμαι, ὅτι οὐ γινώσκω ποῖον συμφέρει. Σὺ οἶδας πάντα, καὶ ὡς οἶδας ποίησον· μόνον μὴ ἀστοχήσω, εἴ τι κἂν γένηται· ἀλλὰ κἂν θέλω, κἂν μὴ θέλω, σῶσόν με. Καὶ τοῦτο, εἰ ἀρεστόν σοί ἐστιν. Ἐγὼ τοίνυν πρᾶγμα οὐκ ἔχω· ἐνώπιόν σού εἰμι, ὡς ἄψυχός τις· τὴν ψυχήν μου εἰς τὰς ἀχράντους σου χεῖρας παρατίθημι ἐν τῷ νῦν αἰῶνι καὶ ἐν τῷ μέλλοντι.
