WELL, THOUGH THERE SEEMS TO BE A SWEET CHILDHOOD 'LOVE' AS PORTRAYED BY THE AUTHOR, BETWEEN DAVID AND EMILY WHEN THEY WERE YOUNG, AND THOUGH DAVID SHOWS INITIAL HIGH AFFINITIES TOWARDS HER, THESE ARE NOT EXACTLY RECIPROCATED BY HER, ISN'T IT? SHE HOWEVER CHOOSES HAM AND THEN THE WHOLE MATTER GETS ALL MURKY, WITH STEERFORTH COMING IN AND SPOILING WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN A GOOD MARRIAGE.

ON SECOND THOUGHTS, IT DOES OCCUR TO ME THAT, THIS DAVID-EMILY 'LOVE'MIGHT HAVE BEEN ONE MORE OF DICKENS' PLAYFUL DEALINGS WITH PURE LOVE AS YOU MAY PROPERLY UNDERSTAND, AFTER READING MY RECENT POST-'REFLECTIONS'.
