I believe that one of the problems is exactly the division between 'metaphysical importance' and 'reality', when I am obliged to deny the one for the other. But 'what a person, or anything is', is already a metaphysical question.

We seem more 'dry' today (since long ago), I think, because we have passed through many ages of faith which we have lost - but being dry is not a phenomenon of our times only: "the many are stuffed like beasts", Heraclitus says.
