I have just completed David Copperfield and I noticed that David's father was not only alluded to in the title but perhaps in the rest of the novel. I am interested in hearing what your thoughts on the role of David's father is and examples in the text?

David Copperfield dies six months before his son is born. He therefore is only a wish in the young man's thoughts- of what life would have been like if he had lived.
