we know about lionel bart's hugely successful adaptation of oliver twist ... and there is a dodgy great expectations (first staged with john mills during the 70's and revived in liverpool in the early '90s ... I am trying to find information about any musicalisation of Copperfield ... if anyone can help with any information at all i'd be very grateful

thanks for pointing me there ... i had come here and posted in a hurry at the begining of a new research for a piece of work and didn't take the time to find out the size and resourses of the site ... (some researcher! huh?)
while i was away looking at the links from the page you reccomended i came across something very exciting in a piece of critisism - something that will change the course of my planning enormously... for the better

Of course I know that these threads are long dead but I'm posting for future readers.
In 1980 (I think, around that time anyway) there was a Broadway musical called simply "Copperfield". There's not a ton of info on the internet because it did REALLY BADLY, only showing around 30 shows total and most of those for critics. It apparently was a poor adaptation that missed the point of the novel. Here's the Wikipedia page
