it is a very emotive poem George with a strong contrasting idea with ancient to the present.
I like the poem, however I do find it a too simplistic view of current realities.
Money lenders are not entirely at fault at the West's collapse -- what about the incompetent/current governments that hide and tell lies to their constituents that 'all is well' and the profligate spending ( and not saving, demanding a lifestyle that can not be afforded ? -- living beyond ones means ?
You can't spend what you have not earned unless you have the capacity to payback. Or the spending produces efficiencies and income down the track;common practical sense really.
We are in the end responsible of our own actions.
So in this light, the 'mega' conqueror and money lenders idea is not really a strong one for me
however it is an oreo poima

Yes, there are weaknesses which result from failure to clearly identify the "decadent" situation and attribute it to specific causes. I was having my country in mind, Greece, and your comments do summarize the economic situation in Greece. It is simplistic, but what matters to me is the emotion which is a force for change. Thank you for reading the poem. By the way, you seem to be ever present (omniscient) is this electronic sphere. Do you ever feel lonely?
