Flowers of Eden

My mother holds my hand,
as we walk to church
along the gentle path
that winds around the hillock.

The view of distant cedar door
is obstructed by trees
and I'm distracted
when I look askance
at tiger lilies, sun flowers
and birds of paradise.

Mother is absorbed in her thoughts.

I see courage and quite determination
amongst the tiger lilies
that defend helpless daisies;
softer stemmed souls
that have receded into the shadows.
The sunflower takes center stage,
of course with so much
brimming confidence and yet,
seeks love and attention.

Bird of paradise do not hide either,
they are a delight and brighten
corners of any dull social meeting.

The rose too dislikes
to be left alone in a vase
prefers the love of music,
lovers charm and embrace.

There are tears in mothers eyes now,
and the sky a deep blue
with lofty clouds;
their built up moisture
locked away far too long,
now ready to release and nourish.

Barely, with our feet
inside the chapel floor,
a burst of sunlight radiates
and greets as it pours through
the lead light windows
illuminating the Ikons
and big brass chandelier.

It feels like a much needed
spiritual shower that
will succour and revive us
like the few wilted, tired flowers
I saw today on my way to church.

The way your eye lids close, made me wonder about the place this vision rests for.
How shall I enter, how shall I fit in, tonight I hope, in my dreams, do come and let me know.

Hi Thalia,

It would be very interesting to know the source of imagery and inspiration for artists, writers, musicians -- "creatives".

Most never show their "work in progress" -- only the final product to the audience (if they so desire) and leave it at that.

And like Rosarch test, you can react to the work in anyway you want to or perhaps see things in the work that relate to your life experiences etc.

Personally, for me, influences, ispiration and images, can arrive from any source; even by looking at photographs of Minor White ( American Master Photographer) "The Eye That Shapes" by Peter C Bunnell for example.

By the way, I never write or take photographs with my eyes closed - LOL

Thanks for reading.

cheers
Nico
