There this fine mist -- ambrosia like,

so snow white that you shimmer
in ripples of blue Aegean sea.
Through this haze
you reveal symmetry
and a perfection
that dazzles our senses
and enflame our bosoms
with awe and rapture.
No barbaric acts from Anatoli
or the theft
of your unmatched friezes
can ever reduce
or subdue your splendor.
Eternal symbol of Hellenismos.
Herculean efforts are underway
to soon restore your former glory.
Can we ever be the same again
seeing you pristine
like the first time
the citizens of Athens did ?
Seems the greater gods of Greece
weep today and their tears
wash away the veil of apathy,
indifference and neglect
in this post-modern European age.

My opinion is that modern Greeks are not worthy of their heritage. They have forfeited their right. Unless ... they rise from their ashes again ... through education and proper training.
