Χαίρετε πάντες!

I was wondering if someone could help me. I am interested in getting into singing byzantine hymns, like the music in church; Does anyone know where i could get some help online? Is there at all a website that might teach the scales and some hymns or would the best choice be to go to my church and actually ask for some help there?

You can find pages on the formation of Byzantine chant, some description of scales, etc., but to actually learn Byzantine music you'd better follow your second idea.
