Good morning!

I'm from Ukraine & I have very ardent interest in translation of the Bible into the modern Slavonic languages. About Ukrainian I will in a few days tell you, but it is important for me to know that there will be somebody, who can tell me about translation of the Scripture into their native languages (not only about recently done, but about classic too). I will be very thankfull for everyonw, who will agree to join this post.

Hi Nazar. There are many translations of the Bible, as you know, but it is difficult to find good ones. The problem in translation, especially in sacred and poetical works, is that the translator needs to have the same experience as the author, in order to somehow re-write the text or be able to re-create in another language the effects produced by the original. You need, therefore, a special linguistic sensitivity, and beyond this you need the experience of the authors, the help of the Holy Spirit. It needs not just philological skills for such a translation to have real worth.
