Catholics and Protestant Christians celebrate today Easter. Is the Greek Orthodox Easter different? I would like to know more about the date, the rituals, traditions, etc.

Thank you,

Laellius.

Orthodox Easter is different than in other confessions. For example, we color our eggs red for the blood of Christ, we fast, and we morn the passion of Christ for fourty days and nights, we feel His Resurrection.

Orthodox Easter never falls on the same day, as happens with Christmas, but every year it's on a different day sometimes in a different month. I'm not sure, but every five years or so, we happen to share Easter with other confessions.
