CHAPTER 39 – WICKFIELD AND HEEP

Betsey Trotwood sends Copperfield to Canterbury to take his mind off Dora. He stays with the Wickfields. After supper, when Agnes and Mrs Heep leave, Heep says that he wants to marry Agnes, but Mr Wickfield gets angry and refuses, but the next morning he apologises to Uriah.

 

CHAPTER 40 – THE WANDERER

When Copperfield walks back from Dr Strong’s house, he sees Mr Peggotty. He says that he’s been to France, Italy and Switzerland to look for Emily. He also shows Copperfield some money he was sent.

 

CHAPTER 41 – DORA’S AUNTS

Copperfield goes to see Dora’s aunts to see if he can still get married. They say yes on the condition that they must agree to anything that will be done first. Copperfield agrees.
