Hello. I need to know why David refers to Pegotty and his mother as "objects". Thank you!

Hello , Bea
I suppose you point out the first line at chapter 2--- "The first objects that assume a distinct presence before me ,....".
In this case , "object " means anything that is visible and tangible .
For David who has just come into the world ( when he was born ), his mother and Peggoty aren't necessarily person . He was too immature to notice what they are .
In addition to it , Dickens seems to be good at dipicting scenes , even unfortunate , miserable ones , "in humor (witness )." ,so "object " is more humorous than "person " .
I really understand how much David loves his mother through some moving scenes .
What do you think my suggestion ?
I'm looking forward to your opinion .
Thanks for your useful question .

Hi, Bea !
It is good to hear from you . I'm glad my comment is helpful for you .
When David was born , he might have felt the existances of his mother and Pegotty strange , mysterious (?) .
For us , " mother " is the most important first person since born . Great love by her is the source of happy life , I believe .
Could you tell me about your mother , if you might ?
Thanks a lot .
