Afro-Athena, Afro-Athanasius, Slavo-Alexander… - Get the Picture?

      Now I read in a Christian magazine (do they deserve a link?) an article, where the author is suddenly surprised by a brilliant thought, that the Christian roots are African, since Athanasius, Augustine and others are not Europeans but Africans! Modern Psychoanalysis as a Sophistry

      As Freud writes, “there is nothing more in psychoanalysis than an exchange of words between patient and doctor” (Introduction to Psychoanalysis). Yet, is a simple exchange of words possible? Absense of life creates immediately presense of death, and what is the profit of knowing all the illusions of a person, when my relationship with him has not forgiven not one of them?... The whole frame of modern psychology reflects the neo-sophistry, when man is explained by himself, he can not but be himself the measure of everything – knowledge, construction and arbitrariness become essentially identified. Thinking about the first sophists in ancient Greece, we can see the essence of their western rebirth and excess, in the absense from the West of the world inside which the ancient sophists appeared and were immediately expelled.  - Read Complete

      That the divine nature and power exists in all creatures, we don’t doubt”, Gregory of Nyssa says. We can trace this view even in previous times. When Empedocles confesses that “I was sometimes a boy, a girl, a bush, a bird, and a silent fish in the sea”, he doesn’t believe that this way the human soul is belittled; he sees her as equal with everything, because “from the many grew to be only the One” - wisdom and humility are identified with each other in the recognition of the one Spirit that everything shares, but the equal-with-God authority of the human existence, the common root of soul and body, the psychobodily unity of man and the permanent uniqueness of each person, God’s seal where man is born, have not become clearly understood. Yet, even Empedocles’ thinking is not faceless enough, since it belongs to the Homeric spirituality.  - Read Complete
