Speaking of Scholasticism and Roman Catholicism reminds me of an article by Christos Yannaras.

He analyses Greek Byzantine architecture as opposed to the Gothic cathedral, and how scholasticism and Gothic architecture are the expressions, each in their own domain, of the same rationalistic thought.
