Etymology of almond. Almond comes from the old french almande, from the Vulgar Latin amendla, from Latin amygdala, which is merely a transliteration of the Greek αμύγδαλα-amygdala (almonds).
In modern Greek a) Αμύγδαλα: almonds [amygdala]
_ αμύγδαλα --> amygdala --> amendla --> almande --> almonds
