Hi again,
Is ἐξηγήσατο in John 1:18 with the meaning of "was the first (example)", like in "No one has seen God; the only begotten God (or in some manuscripts: Son), The One Being In the Bossom Of The Father, He led (meaning: was the first one to see God).
Some translate this as "he hath declared Him" or "He has explained Him" or (more often, including in the Romanian translations and I think also in the modern Greek version), "he has made him known".
Thank you

Ἐξηγήσατο means explained. Made known is also correct, being almost identical with explained. Since visions of God existed before, Chrysostom interprets this passage as meaning a better, a perfect, knowledge, that was missing before the incarnation, because the Son participates in the Father's essence, while prophets etc were seeing only the glory and energies, of God. |
