Hello

Are there any new ideas about the identity of the pre-greek substrate language -- pre-Indo-European -- that makes up such a large percentage of modern Greek words?

Thanks!

Greetings.
There does not seem to be a lot of information in this area. There are a good few Greek words that are from the languages of peoples who were overrun by the spread of Greek Tribes. ie mostly Place Names. many ending in the form 'ύνθος'. It is also quite probable that these 'Pre-Greek people' were also speakers of 'Indo-European' languages.
If you get any leads I would be pleased to know.
Regards. K.
